Maple Ridge, BC: EPR Maple Ridge Langley, Chartered Professional Accountants, are pleased to announce that they recently acquired King & Co. — a long-standing accounting company that has roots in the community dating back to 1961.
“King & Co. has been part of the community for 55 years and I’ve had the pleasure of serving with Doug King, Principal of King & Co., on a number of boards and community development initiatives,” said Patrick Smith, EPR Partner. “Like King & Co., EPR partners and staff are big on giving back to the community and providing outstanding client service. When Doug approached EPR with his retirement plans, it seemed like a natural fit to serve King & Co.’s clients and EPR partners jumped at the opportunity. We look forward to working with Doug and his clients to make the transition as smooth as possible.”
Doug King comments, “I worked alongside my father for a number of years in the Fuller Watson office building on Lougheed Highway and officially took over the practice in 1977 and continued in the same location. Aside from technology and the transition from manual to computerized accounting practices, there hasn’t been a lot of change in the accounting practice. The local business community has definitely grown and it continues to be tight-knit; I see this as a healthy indicator — business supporting business.”
Fast forward to 2016, King shared, “It’s time for a change and to start doing things differently. Through the transition process, I’m looking forward to going into EPR a couple of days a week for a few hours a day and letting go of my 6 day work week. Being able to spend more time with my family and young grandchildren will by far be the greatest reward. Maple Ridge has been a great place to practice and I’m grateful for all the clients who have supported my practice through the years and thank them for allowing me to be their trusted advisor. What I know for sure moving forward? My clients are in good hands at EPR.”
