EPR Partner Paul Walker Awarded his FCGA

January 8, 2015

We are very pleased to announce that Paul Walker has been awarded an FCGA. The Fellow designation recognizes members who provide exemplary service to the CGA Association and the profession and symbolizes the commitment members demonstrate on behalf of the Association. CGA Canada bestows this honour to select CGAs each year in appreciation of the tireless dedication they have shown in advancing the interest of the profession.

Paul Walker has served as an outstanding ambassador for CGA for many years. His father, Malcolm, is also a CGA who was very active within the Association and is a Life Member of CGA Ontario. As a result, Paul “grew up” within the CGA Community making his decision to pursue his designation a natural choice.

Upon receiving his designation in 1997 Paul immediately began volunteering his time when he joined his local Chapter Board as a Director. He has been a member of the BC Ethics and CGA BC Re-Admission Committees since 2006, becoming Chair of both committees in 2011, positions he still holds today. In 2009 Paul joined the Exam Oversight Committee. Members of this committee are responsible for the review and critique of specific program and exam components, lending credibility and support to the CGA Public Accounting Program. Paul was recently also awarded the Harold Clarke Award for Service which is presented to a CGA BC member to recognize outstanding service to the Association and Community.

Paul’s professional career has almost exclusively been in public accounting and he has been a partner in the firm of EPR Maple Ridge Langley since 2000. After undertaking the arduous application process, Paul became one of the first CGA’s to become publicly licenced in Ontario and he is now a Licenced Public Accountant in that province and a member of CPA Ontario since November 2013.

In 2003 Paul became Chair of the national firm of Evancic Perrault Robertson, leading this organization through a restructuring that resulted in our current national network, EPR Canada Group Inc. He then became President of EPR Canada for 7 years, stepping down in 2012 however he remains on the Board of Directors.

His commitment to CGA and the accounting profession over the years has been exemplary and he truly embodies the qualities necessary for this recognition
